How do i neatly highlight text in Acrobat?

$

Hi, I'm wondering if something has changed in the program.  In the past i was able to click and drag over pdf text (after it was converted) to neatly highlight blocks of text.  Now, the highlight tool is operating freehand and it's making my documents messy.  Is there a setting or way to change it back?

Thanks for any assistance!

Editing text in text boxes

Why does it take many attempts to double click and edit text in a text box now? I have never had this issue when working in Acrobat. Now I can't edit the text my first try and I'm seeing a black image of a trash can when I'm clicking on the text box. What is causing this? Did this change with an upgrade?

Shortcut or faster workflow for commenting with "Add note to text"

$

When reviewing texts in pdf-form in Adobe Acrobat DC (latest CC version), I normally use the "Add note to text" tool of the Comment tool. What's a bit frustrating is that there doesn't seem to be a shortcut for that tool, so I can't select the string I want to attach a note to → *press shortcut* → write my comment quickly. Instead, I have to highlight the text, then click the icon with the mouse, then go back to the keyboard to write my comment. Is there a shortcut for that that I somehow overlooked? Or is there a faster way to do it? (No, I don't want to use sticky notes, thank you)

There doesn't seem to be a way to edit shortcuts in Acrobat DC at all, which is a bit ... stupid? Annoying at best ...

Thanks in advance!

You know, I thought that Adobe would be above this kind of elementary error but this bug is one that seems to persist through all the versions. And don't give me that crap about "It's not a bug" B*&&$#!T!!  Our company just bought a new copy of Acrobat Standard 2017 and it still has the error! My God, aren't there any engineers out there any more or is the whole company a bunch of worthless salesmen running around? This problem needs to be addressed by the company called Adobe immediately!

Summarize Comments not printing properly

$

0

I have never had this happen before and can't figure it out.

I get edited documents from people every month who put their edits in notes on the documents.  I then print the documents and comments using "summarize comments."  The document prints, the comments print the following page for their respective comments. Easy peasy, and usually works like a charm.

When I got my edited docs back this month something isn't working right.

The comments pages are showing as the correct size on the page as usual, but the document itself is all skewed off the page and oversized.

It doesn't matter what settings I try, nothing works.  I even tried opening another document and putting a note in it, then using the "summarize comments" button (which worked fine).  Then I tried moving the pages I want to print to the "good" document.  (thinking maybe the original was corrupt).

No go, something about this doc has gotten messed up, and I can't find or fix it.

I really don't want to have to print this document twice just to get one good copy.  But if I can't find an answer, I guess that's my only option as a workaround.  I'm hoping someone else has run across this.

And I can't post a printscreen, the docs are confidential (siiiiiiiiggggggh, of course they are.)

We are looking for help from somebody or some company (ideally Adobe) to add an icon on the top Adobe Acrobat tool bar, near to the existing envelop icon, to share the PDF file to a particular internal-to-the-company web site. The idea is to make it easy for the users to send the PDF file to an internal application.

Can I add a leader to a custom dynamic stamp?

$

We have a need to mark up several hundred CADD drawings by pointing to a location, noting what kind of test was performed at that location, and noting which test number contains the results.  I've solved half the problem by creating a custom set of dynamic stamps, one for each kind of test.  When the user places the stamp, it prompts the user to enter the test number that correlates with that location, and that number gets embedded in the stamp.  I used this tutorial as the basis: https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/print/dynamic_stamp_secrets

I need to be able to draw a leader from the stamp to the test location.  Because there are so many test locations, I can't use a static arrow built into the custom stamp because there won't be enough room to place each stamp right next to its correlating test location.  The "text callout" tool has the functionality I'm looking for where you can click once at the test location, move the mouse away and click again to set the text box location, then enter text.  But instead of the basic text box, I'd like to use my custom dynamic stamp.

Is there any way to combine the two tools?  Either add a custom stamp to the Text Callout tool, or be able to add a dynamic leader to a custom dynamic stamp?

I need to backcheck some pdf drawings and to do so, i highlight my original markup if its been picked up. While doing this, ive noticed there are two forms of the highlight tool. Both come from the same tool button the "highlight tool". One form is a circular cursor that does freehand highlighting. The other is a vertical bar like a capitol letter "I" that only highlights text. I cant determine why, but the version of the tool that i get to use varies between pdf's. Is there a way to set the freehand tool as default?

Stylus Pen Markups

A week ago I was able to use my stylus pen for writing on the pdf with the pencil tool while the hand button was selected.  This allowed me to write with my stylus and pan the pdf with my finger.  However, now my stylus simply resorts to performing whatever command is selected, resulting in the need to constantly switch back and forth between the hand and pencil tool.  Very irritating and a waste of my time.  I vaguely recall there being a check box in properties menu to toggle this but I can't seem to find it.  Am I missing it or has the function been removed.  If it has been removed then Acrobat will no longer be useful to me and I will immediately cancel my subscription.

On a related note to Acrobat forum moderators, I am sick and tired of "updates" changing the default preferences and functionality of software I pay for.  Pass the word along to your engineering team.  This is the last straw for me, I won't be spending anymore of my time trying to relearn aspects of the program just to do what I could already do the week before.

Possible to disable SharePoint check-in/out prompt without disabling all SharePoint integration

Hello,

While the article "What's New in Acrobat X, Version 10.1" (http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/06/whats-new-in-acrobat-x-version-10-1.html) claims as a new feature the ability to disable the SharePoint check-in/check-out prompt, I cannot find any options for this in the Acrobat X 10.1 application, and furthermore, in response to a user question on this topic, instructions are given to edit a registry key to disable the SharePoint integration features, as below:

     "Create a new key “cSharePoint” at “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\FeatureLockDown”

     In this key, create a new DWORD Value “bDisableSharePointFeatures”

     Set its value to 1"

My question is: Is it possible to disable the SharePoint check-in/check-out prompt only, as suggested by the above article, without disabling all of the SharePoint integration features (as the registry edit would do)?

Many Thanks

Hello,

I have a problem with Shared Commenting feature in Acrobat Pro DC used with web browser plugin (Adobe PDF plugin for FireFox and Netscape 19.12.20036). When a reviewer creates a comment (drawing, stumps...) via the browser plugin the comment is visible in right panel and in document correctly but for all other reviewers is visible only in right bar but not in the document. It seems that the comment is there because when the reviewer moves mouse cursor over the area of the missing comment the small popup with comment info appears. The problem doesn't happen when the comment is created in full Acrobat DC Pro so it must be connected just with the plugin.

Check attached screenshots for imaginig the issue. Environment: Windows 10 64b Pro, FireFox 51, Adobe pdf plugin for Firefox and Netscape 19.12.20036

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. I've also tried Internet Explorer 10 with same result.

Comment icons showing in document, only in sidebar. And when I view the PDF in another PDF reader (Bluebeam Revu), the icon actually shows up on a different page than what is referenced in the comment app. And the sticky note is not clickable. I can edit the contents and delete the sticky note, but I cannot select or move the sticky note.

When I double click on the sticky note in the sidebar of Acrobat, it actually jumps to two pages back from the page listed in the comment app.

This doesn't happen every time, but it does happen nearly every time today.

I am using InDesign 2017 and Acrobat 2019.012.20036

I do want to add one more bit of information: I use Kerntiff's PDF stickies to convert InDesign notes to PDF sticky notes. When the notes are inside of tables, that's when they have weird behavior in the resulting PDF.

Hi,

i'd like to known because in some PDF file the Creation Date is later than the Modification Date.

For example:

Create Date                    07/07/2016 06:22:41 PM

Modify Date                    07/07/2016 05:22:50 PM

What do it mean? The file was modified and after save, such as a "new file", on  07/07/2016 06:22:41 PM ? The "original file" is that created  on 07/07/2016 05:22:50 PM?

Either there is no default mail client or ... Acrobat 10.1.16 error when try to attach file to Outlook email.

Hello,

I am running Acrobat Standard 10.1.16 and no longer able to send a file via Microsoft Outlook.  This is my scenario and error:

Tried 2 ways:

1) Click 'Share' and select 'Attach to Email' while having an open PDF file, very basic PDF.

Immediately get error pop up window with 'Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

2) Also tried 'Comment' and 'Send for Shared Review' which we use a lot in our company but I get the exact same error.

I installed Acrobat Standard 10 and run the auto-update to get to 10.1.16. Tried this on 2 brand new Lenovo computers running Windows 10 Pro and Office 365.

The default email client is set to Microsoft Outlook in Settings - Apps - Default Apps in Windows 10.

I have reinstalled Acrobat and Office 365 multiple times on first computer without resolving issue. I also ran the Repair Acrobat Installation under Acrobat Help menu.

I am not able to find a solution or workaround for this. Has anyone ran into this and able to help or point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Unexpected Changes to Font Appearance in Sticky Notes

$

Hi Everyone

I'm using Adobe Reader and making comments on a PDF file. Recently, I did a search and find for all comments that contained two key words so I could ensure that they were both capitalised. However, in some of those edited sticky notes, the font size now seems unduly large. When I copy and paste the text into Word, and 'keep source formatting' suddenly about 130 pages appear. I have no idea what's happened but I'd like to correct it as I don't like the inconsistency.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Why is font changing in sticky notes in PDF?

$

Hi, so basically I'm experiencing trouble when using either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I basically want to add comments to my PDF. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2019.012.20036

The comments I wanna add are in a different format in a MS word document and when I copy paste the words, the bold and italicized words in the original word document are originally there in the word document style, but suddenly change when I click post in the sticky note box. I then have to rebold and reitalicize the words in the sticky note which is tedious.

Why is this happening and is there a way I can preserve the font style when transferring words from a MS word document to the comments box in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC? It is very time consuming italicizing and making words bold again.

I'm using Windows 10 Home x64.

Hi Team,

i'm still struggling with pencil issue.

I have a pdf document with sign box field and when you click it the pencil tool lasts for 6 seconds, after that handtool shows again.

Unfortunatelly it works only in normal view, when i put it in full screen mode via JS, drawing tool doesn't work anymore.

I need to mention that it worked for one day in full screen mode, but suddenly stopped (i did not change anything with JS)

There is code for pencil function in sign box:

this.getField("Sign_box").setFocus();

this.zoom = 220;

app.execMenuItem("Annots:Tool:InkMenuItem");

function exit() {

app.execMenuItem("HandMenuItem");

}

app.setTimeOut("exit()", 6000);

there is a code for opening in fullscreen mode:

if (app.fs.isFullScreen){

    app.fs.isFullScreen = false;

    }

    else {

    app.fs.isFullScreen = true;

    }

Do you have any ideas what is going on and how can be this fixed?

Annoying "Add a comment" getting in the way of simple text callout

$
0
0

Often when I am inserting a text callout into a pdf document, instead of filling in the callout box, Acrobat opens another box over on the right in the list of comments and suggests "Add a comment."  When you type at that point, it doesn't fill in the callout box; it creates something different.  This started when the hideous floating trash can first appeared.  The trash can is now history, but this problem isn't.  I don't even know what this "comment on a comment" option is supposed to be for.  When I open a text callout box, with the next keystrokes I enter, I want to fill in the box.  Why is the program doing something different?  And what's the point of it, anyway?  If I wanted to add something to what's in the callout, I'd use a sticky note.  I know there are people whose job it is to monkey with the program, but these changes are not for the better.  How do I disable this one?

"The document could not be saved: a file error has occurred"

$

Upon trying to save an extensively annotated PDF in Acrobat Reader DC (latest release), I received the above error message. I tried to save as, both to replace the existing file, then in another location, to receive the same message. By now, the text had vanished from the visible document and only the underlining and comments were visible. I've basically had to re-type all the comments separately in Word, and will now have to correlate the PDF page numbers to the documents page numbers etc etc, an extremely frustrating end to hours of work.

My question is: why has this happened and, given that this has happened on several occasions in the past (but on less important PDFs), how do I prevent it from happening again? I've since reopened the PDF, commented and saved, and it works fine, so this is clearly a sporadic and random bug. Several others seem to have had this happen on the forum but I haven't found a satisfactory fix (or it seems even a proper understanding of the problem) from Adobe. There are no security controls on my PDF. I am running OS X 10.13.3.

Thanks.

How do I set up Shared Reviews with Box?

My Box account has been added as an account to Acrobat.

I need to find a step-by-step procedure I can follow to set Acrobat up to allow me to click Share for a PDF file that is stored on Box, send it to selected people (who have access to Box but not, I think, Document Cloud) and have their comments saved BACK to Box and available to anyone else who has been invited to the review.

I've looked, I've googled, I am apparently clueless on what search terms to use or maybe it's just that Box is too short or generic a word for the search to be effective.

According to the announcement made in February 2018, it should be possible to use Box as the host/repository for shared review information. I've tried to do a shared review, but

(1) I either wind up with the doc in the Document Cloud, where I don't want it. (This is with the doc open and using Share from the top right.)

(2) or I get a message from Acrobat telling me to save the file to another location on my system, which I don't understand and also can't find any information on interpreting (this is with Box selected under Files on the Home tab, selecting the document in the list of files, and clicking Share from the right panel)

I am able to see them on my laptop when I hover over them and when I open the Comments pane. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat DC 2015.006.30503 (same as my machine) and checked her preferences so they match mine and she still cannot see any comments. It does not appear the file has been flattened since I can see the comments as can others in her group; it appears to only be happening on her machine. We run Windows 10 Enterprise and her machine has the latest Windows security patches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
