Audio Comments have static, sound terrible

Using either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat we are inserting audio comments into pdf. When we listen to the comment that was inserted there is all kinds of static, in other words, the audio quality is terrible. When I use the Win7 Sound Recorder app or Audacity, the sound recording sounds great, not static at all. Any ideas on how to fix this? Yes, I could record the sounds using Sound Recorder tool or Audacity and then insert them into the pdf but this is an extra step.
