Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard - Typewriter Tool issue - Default Opacity set to 1% for comments.

I have a user who is on Adobe Acrobat 9 standard. When adding comments to PDF's - using the TYPEWRITER TOOL - the comments opacity is defaulting to 1%. i am unable to select PROPERTIES for the comment that was added with TYPEWRITER TOOL. when the user adds a comment using TEXT BOX TOOL, we are able to Right click on the comment, and change the properties/opacity back to 100% - making the comment visible once clicking outside the input box. I have still be unable to change the default opacity for TYPEWRITER TOOL. have looked at a few forum posts, but none have rectified the issue. Any help would be appreciated. Upgrading the user off of Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard is NOT an option.
