Changing highlighter behaviour in Acrobat DC Pro

I just upgraded from Acrobat X Pro to DC Pro, and though I really love the changes made, the way the highlighter behaves is frusterating me.

I often go through long PDFs, highlighting relevant passages and then scroll down. In Acrobat X this worked flawlessly, I would highlight and then change pages with the arrow keys and highlight on the next page text again. In DC, after highlighting a passage, acrobat automatically selects this 'highlight' and I cant scroll throuh pages, rather , it opens a comment box in the sidebar for me to add text, and scrolling changes to this text field, rather than to the document. Is there a way to disable this, so I can highlight and 'move on' rather than the tool each time open up a text field in the comment panel and making me manually close the comment before moving on?
