when i highlight, underline, etc. text using the text highlighting, underline, etc. tool, the highlighting extends below the text. It even touches the line below, making it difficult to highlight text in the next line.

Can't type in a text box or text callout box

I'm using Windows 7, IE 9.0.8112.16421, and Acrobat version 10.1.6. I am working in a priorietary platform for reviewing material and I can use all of the commenting tools and can create a text box and a text callout box, but I cannot type in them. My text box and text callout box work just fine with every other program that I use on my system. But this requires using Acrobat and its tools within their platform and I cannot type in those two boxes in that situation. Their first suggestion was it was an Acrobat problem. We have repaired and reinstalled several times to no avail. They then said to be sure Acrobat Reader was not installed (and it wasn't). I've cleared history. Their online reviewing system requires a specific Java script in a specific place -- we've installed, deleted, reinstalled, etc. and it still doesn't work.

I've used this platform on another computer and it works fine. I got a new computer in February with a new CS, and the problem is occurring on only this new system. And only when I am using Acrobat in their platform.

Would anyone have any suggestions what I might try? They said they had one report of a person having the same problem, but they had Reader installed.

Thanks!

Unable to comment on Sharepoint held PDF's

Hello All

We have an externally held Sharepoint server.
Using a Mac and Safari with Acrobat 11 (both Pro and Reader) we are able to directly open a PDF within the browser BUT we are unable to comment as the commenting tools are greyed out.

However from within Acrobat we are able to "Open From Online Account" browse the folder structure, select a PDF, Check it out and comment on it (the Comments Field is not greyed out using this method).
Any ideas gratefully received!

Summarize Comments

While summarizing comments using Acrobat Pro X, the italic text in the comments were displayed in Bold in the Summarized Report. This does not happens in Acrobat Pro 7. We searched and found no option to fix this in the "Preferences" menu. Is there any solution for this?

Saving Option in Shared Review

I am wondering why it prompts you to save when you close a shared review.  You already publish your comments which saves those.  In our experience when you select "yes" to save when closing your shared review it messes up everything especially with the person that chooses to save.

Is there a reason for this option to save and is there a way to turn it off?  For our purposes we do not see a need for doing this.

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sharing an Adobe Acrobat XI Form on Shared Drive

What type of notification will a user get if they go to open an Adobe Acrobat XI fillable form, which is on a shared network drive, and someone else is using it? Is it similar to what one would see with a Word document...that the document is "read only" and you have the option of being notified when the form is available?

thank you

step through comments

Yup, I agree with everyone who's posted about the "toy" interface that X has foisted on us … but don't expect any improvements, and won't ask my bosses to pay for an upgrade just to get back functions we used to have.

My focused question, then, is – how can I step through comments, like we used to do with handy Next/Previous arrows? Voice-activated doesn't work … I've tried shouting at the screen<rofl>

Text Box font color in Acrobat X Pro

I am struggling to figure out how to change the default christmas red font color in text boxes to a more readable color. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the font at all in the text boxes in Acrobat X Pro. I have done this (changed font color, font type, font size, etc) in text boxes without any problems in Acrobat 9.x Pro, so I know Adobe knows that has been a feature of Acrobat before.

Some people are red-color blind and can not see bright red text.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Highlighter colors look muddy when printed from Acrobat 8, X, and Reader XI to Xerox WC7775, 7665

Highlighter colors look muddy when printed to Xerox WC7775, 7665(applies to Acrobat 8 Std, Acrobat X Std, Reader XI).  I tried the latest PS and PCL6 drivers from xerox.com.  How can I troubleshoot / fix this so highlighter colors look bright when printed?

When printing highlighted text from other applications (like Word) from the same computers to the same printers, the highlighter color is bright.  Users print PDFs for distribution to clients so they would like the printed documents to look good.

Thanks

Getting the number of Comments

Hello,

Is there a way to tell if everyone who reviewed a shared PDF, did not leave any comments, prior to opening the PDF?

I currently store shared PDF's on a network drive, and the comments are on another network drive. I have a workflow in Filemaker that allows people to access and open the shared PDF's.

People would like to know if anyone made a comment to the shared PDF, without having to open it. Our workflow if if they did not make a comment, there is no reason for them to open the PDF.

Do any of the XML files that are created whenever anyone opens the shared PDF, contain a count of the comments made? When you first open the PDF, the amount of comments someone has made is summarized in the initial window. Essentially I need to extract that info.

Thanks,

Evan

I recently installed Adobe Pro XI. I am unable to select the cloud, polygon and connected lines drawing markup tools. I can see them but they are greyed out so that I am not able to select them.

I am running Windows 7 64bit on an Asus ZenBook laptop.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Kind regards,

Is it possible to secure a document with a password and still allow commenting?

I have several documents that I would like to secure with a password.  All of the documents were created using Adobe Pro X and our users will use the latest version of Adobe Reader to view the documents.  I don't want to require a password to open the document.  I only want to restrict editing and printing.  Can I do this and still allow commenting and markups?  I don't seem to be having any success...any help is greatly appreciated.

Shared Review cannot resolve email addresses through Outlook

I am finding references to the issue I am having that goes back a couple years and seems to be tied to a change to Acrobat between versions 8 & 9, I am flummoxed though that there isn't a solution listed for any of the forum posts I've found.  We are using Acrobat Pro & Standard X.  When I create a shared review via Email or using a SharePoint workspace, I am unable to succesfully add users to the review process.

A few users always work and most others result in multiple contact selector dialog boxes and a final message:

"Microsoft Outlook does not recognize "/o=..."

If this is a known issue how can there not be a work around or fix for this?  It's a great feature, but I can't ask our users to use this shared review process if I also have to tell them to just keep trying to enter the reviewer email - it might work eventually.

Suggestions?

A user found a bug in Adobe Pro 10.1.6.

We have both Adobe Reader and Pro installed on Server 2008.

A document stamped with dynamic signature: "APPROVED" do not show in Adobe Pro when opening.

If the zoom level is being change then the stamp do show.

Same document show the dynamic stamps in Adobe Reader.

I reported the bug through this form https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

Is there a workaround until a fix is comitted ?

Filter comment by status broken in Acrobat XI

Looking at the Acrobat/Managing comments topic section on "Filter comments":

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd6151097 94195ff-7e4a.w.html#community

The sections states,

"You can hide or show comments based on type, reviewer (author), status, or checked state."

But, I'm finding that (unlike previous versions of Acrobat) I am unable to filter the comments such that only comments with no status set or status=None are shown.

This bug is making it very difficult to verify that all comments against my document are resolved.

Could this problem (no status and status=None) be occurring because the PDF is not a tagged PDF? (It seems that creating a tagged PDF is required for many comment related features in Acrobat XI.)

Acrobat 11 VERY slow

This is weird. My new ultra-skookum Powerbook with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB flash drive almost grinds to a 1989 snail's pace while doing some basic markup in Acrobat 11. You click on something and 5 seconds passes before it is selected. Moving callout boxes is a jumping-all-over-the-page affair. Any ideas?

Replies erroneously showing previous entry.

Systems Info:

  • Acrobat X Pro 10.1.6, all patches applied in order
  • Acrobat uninstall and reinstall does not fix the issue
  • Macintosh OS 10.7.x and 10.8.x
  • All machines affected the same way

We are using Adobe Acrobat Shared Reviews for routing our internal documents fro proofing.  When users reply to previous users comments, after they have entered 4 or 5 replies, the next reply that will show that it already has the text from the previous reply.  However that is not the case, the text field is actually emtpy, but it looks like Acrobat was helping out and "pre-populated" the field with the previous entry.  Users move on to the next reply without realizing that their last reply was empty.  You do not know that the field is empty unless you click on the text field and then the erroneous "pre-populated" text disappears and shows the blank text field.  Very odd behavior.

It seems to me to be a caching or screen redraw issue with Acrobat, but I cannot confirm that. I have also replicated the problem in Acrobat X1. I have tried to scour the internet for info on this but to no avail.  Is anyone else having this issue and if so has anyone successfully solved the problem.

Enclosed is a link to a video we created showing the issue.  Hopefuly it will help illustrate what I am trying to describe above.

Thanks,

Jody
